Analysis of derivative control based virtual inertia in multi-area high-voltage direct current interconnected power systems

    Get PDF
Due to increasing level of power converter-based component and consequently the lack of inertia, automatic generation control (AGC) of interconnected systems is experiencing different challenges. To cope with this challenging issue, a derivative control-based virtual inertia for simulating the dynamic effects of inertia emulations by HVDC (high-voltage direct current) interconnected systems is introduced and reflected in the multi-area AGC system. Derivative control technique is used for higher level applications of inertia emulation. The virtual inertia will add an additional degree of freedom to the system dynamics which makes a considerable improvement on first overshoot responses in addition to damping characteristics of HVDC links. Complete trajectory sensitivities are used to analyse the effects of virtual inertia and derivative control gains on the system stability. The effectiveness of the proposed concept on dynamic improvements is tested through Matlab simulation of two-area test system for different contingencies.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

    Get PDF
Peer reviewe

Updated Determination of D⁰–D¯⁰Mixing and CP Violation Parameters with D⁰→K⁺π⁻ Decays

We report measurements of charm-mixing parameters based on the decay-time-dependent ratio of D⁰→K⁺π⁻ to D⁰→K⁻π⁺ rates. The analysis uses a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0  fb⁻¹ recorded by the LHCb experiment from 2011 through 2016. Assuming charge-parity (CP) symmetry, the mixing parameters are determined to be x′²=(3.9±2.7)×10⁻⁵, y′=(5.28±0.52)×10⁻³, and R[subscript D]=(3.454±0.031)×10⁻³. Without this assumption, the measurement is performed separately for D⁰ and D[over ¯]⁰ mesons, yielding a direct CP-violating asymmetry A[subscript D]=(-0.1±9.1)×10⁻³, and magnitude of the ratio of mixing parameters 1.00<|q/p|<1.35 at the 68.3% confidence level. All results include statistical and systematic uncertainties and improve significantly upon previous single-measurement determinations. No evidence for CP violation in charm mixing is observed

Observation of D⁰ Meson Decays to Π⁺π⁻μ⁺μ⁻ and K⁺K⁻μ⁺μ⁻ Final States

The first observation of the D⁰→π⁺π⁻μ⁺μ⁻ and D⁰→K⁺K⁻μ⁺μ⁻ decays is reported using a sample of proton-proton collisions collected by LHCb at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, and corresponding to 2  fb⁻¹ of integrated luminosity. The corresponding branching fractions are measured using as normalization the decay D⁰→K⁻π⁺[μ⁺μ⁻][subscript ρ⁰/ω], where the two muons are consistent with coming from the decay of a ρ⁰ or ω meson. The results are B(D⁰→π⁺π⁻μ⁺μ⁻)=(9.64±0.48±0.51±0.97)×10⁻⁷ and B(D⁰→K⁺K⁻μ⁺μ⁻)=(1.54±0.27±0.09±0.16)×10⁻⁷, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the limited knowledge of the normalization branching fraction. The dependence of the branching fraction on the dimuon mass is also investigated

International audienceA search for CP violation in the Cabibbo-suppressed D0^{0} → K+^{+}K^{−}π+^{+}π^{−} decay mode is performed using an amplitude analysis. The measurement uses a sample of pp collisions recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb1^{−1}. The D0^{0} mesons are reconstructed from semileptonic b-hadron decays into D0^{0}μ^{−}X final states. The selected sample contains more than 160 000 signal decays, allowing the most precise amplitude modelling of this D0^{0} decay to date. The obtained amplitude model is used to perform the search for CP violation. The result is compatible with CP symmetry, with a sensitivity ranging from 1% to 15% depending on the amplitude considered

    Test of lepton universality in bs+b \rightarrow s \ell^+ \ell^- decays

The first simultaneous test of muon-electron universality using B+K++B^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}\ell^{+}\ell^{-} and B0K0+B^{0}\rightarrow K^{*0}\ell^{+}\ell^{-} decays is performed, in two ranges of the dilepton invariant-mass squared, q2q^{2}. The analysis uses beauty mesons produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb1\mathrm{fb}^{-1}. Each of the four lepton universality measurements reported is either the first in the given q2q^{2} interval or supersedes previous LHCb measurements. The results are compatible with the predictions of the Standard Model.Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2022-046.html (LHCb public pages

We report measurements of charm-mixing parameters based on the decay-time-dependent ratio of D0→K+π- to D0→K-π+ rates. The analysis uses a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb-1 recorded by the LHCb experiment from 2011 through 2016. Assuming charge-parity (CP) symmetry, the mixing parameters are determined to be x′2=(3.9±2.7)×10-5, y′=(5.28±0.52)×10-3, and RD=(3.454±0.031)×10-3. Without this assumption, the measurement is performed separately for D0 and D0 mesons, yielding a direct CP-violating asymmetry AD=(-0.1±9.1)×10-3, and magnitude of the ratio of mixing parameters 1.00<|q/p|<1.35 at the 68.3% confidence level. All results include statistical and systematic uncertainties and improve significantly upon previous single-measurement determinations. No evidence for CP violation in charm mixing is observed

A combined amplitude analysis is performed for the decays B0D0Ds+πB^0 \rightarrow \overline{D}^0 D^+_s\pi^- and B+DDs+π+B^+\rightarrow D^- D^+_s\pi^+, which are related by isospin symmetry. The analysis is based on data collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13TeV\,\rm{TeV}. The full data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9fb1\,\rm{fb^{-1}}. Two new resonant states with masses of 2.908±0.011±0.020GeV2.908\pm0.011\pm0.020\,\rm{GeV} and widths of 0.136±0.023±0.011GeV0.136\pm0.023\pm0.011\,\rm{GeV} are observed, which decay to Ds+π+D^+_s\pi^+ and Ds+πD^+_s\pi^- respectively. The former state indicates the first observation of a doubly charged open-charm tetraquark state with minimal quark content [csˉudˉ][c\bar{s}u\bar{d}], and the latter state is a neutral tetraquark composed of [csˉuˉd][c\bar{s}\bar{u}d] quarks. Both states are found to have spin-parity 0+0^+, and their resonant parameters are consistent with each other, which suggests that they belong to an isospin triplet.Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2022-026.html (LHCb public pages
